Welding/Non-Destructive Program Manager



Summary: The Welding/NDT Program Manager shall be certified NDT Level III and have sufficient technical knowledge and skills to be capable of developing, qualifying, and approving Welding and NDT procedures, establishing and approving techniques, interpreting codes, standards, specifications, and procedures; and designating the methods, techniques and procedures to be used for any particular task. The Weld/NDT Program Manager should have sufficient practical background in applicable materials, fabrication, and product technology to establish welding requirements and inspection techniques.  The Weld/NDT Program Manager shall be capable of training and examining all levels of NDT personnel for certification in applicable methods.  Ensure the requirements set forth in the company processes and QA Manual are adhered to and enforced.

Important Requirements:


  • Current security clearance with the DoD is preferred
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Shipboard NDT and Welding experience with the U.S. Navy


Principal Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Develop Welding Procedures and Procedure Qualification Records in accordance with NSTP 271
  • Qualify and maintain Welder/Brazer qualifications / records
  • Establish NDT techniques and procedures
  • Act as the authority on interpretation and evaluation of welding requirements and NDT results in terms of existing specifications, codes, standards, or procedures
  • Ensure the proper Welding and NDT methods, techniques, and procedures are correctly identified and executed
  • Possess an overall familiarity with applicable NDT methods
  • Train, qualify, and certify NDT Level I and II personnel
  • Review, qualify, and approve procedures, instructions, qualifications, certifications
  • Monitor and audit NDT personnel and sub-vendor’s performance
  • Take an active role to resolve major Welding and NDT problems
  • Perform NDT Level II functions, in those NDT methods qualified, when required
